Dean Atkinson’s experience in building prestige homes in Bayside meant he knew exactly what he wanted when it came to building his own home. Finding an elevated block of at least 900sq m was the first hurdle. After purchasing the block at 14 Coronet Grove, Beaumaris, Dean engaged Peter Maddison of Maddison Architects to interpret his vision.
Established in the 1950’s and 1960’s, Beaumaris has a heritage of experimental architecture from that era. Dean’s vision was to build a 60’s-style exterior but with a 21st century focus on innovative environmental initiatives and luxurious living. He also sought materials requiring minimal maintenance because of the particular demands of the block and its proximity to the beach.
