2008 Fleming’s and Trailfinders Australian Garden
Gold Medal
This garden was designed by Jamie Durie, with Atkinson Pontifex a proud partner responsible for building the award-winning garden. The design aimed to highlight some of the many natural products, textures and colours of the Australian landscape, while offering a practical, outdoor lifestyle space. The curved deck with unique undulations was a stunning feature of this winning entry and Atkinson Pontifex was responsible for its construction from yellow stringybark timber.
The preparations began in early 2008, when David and Dean welcomed renowned Aboriginal artist, Gabriella Possum to use their workspace as her studio to create the artwork she contributed towards the gold medal winning entry. The large, rammed earth wall she created was then shipped to England and installed to provide the backdrop for this distinctively Australian garden.
