Dean and David both enjoy the opportunity to give back to the community. Each year Atkinson Pontifex supports a number of charities and non-for-profit associations, raising money and offering services to help growth from the ground up.

Family Life Show Garden, ‘Melbourne International Flower & Garden Show’, 2014

For the first time, we were proud to build a show garden dedicated to the Family Life charity, at the 2013 Melbourne International Flower & Garden Show. We teamed up with three other partners, Bay Road Nursery, Semken Landscaping and Candeo Design to create the garden, which was designed to help promote Family Life, a charity providing family assistance to at risk families across Melbourne. Based in Sandringham, Family Life has helped many families in the local area, offering counselling, mediation, mental health services, support and community educational services, outreach to homes, case coordination and advocacy. We were thrilled to be involved!

Black Saturday bushfires, 2009

With the Sandringham Rotary Club, Atkinson Pontifex was part of a team of 100 builders and volunteers that travelled to north-east Victoria to support communities affected by these tragic bushfires. Dean and David used their industry contacts to garner support and travelled to the area within three weeks of the fires. Their team built four of the 20 sheds to be used for accommodation in Marysville and surrounding areas.

Kids Under Cover

Atkinson Pontifex won two awards as part of Kids Under Cover’s Cubby House project in 2011. Presented by the Master Builders Association Award, the initiative invites builders to design and build a cubby house, with a live auction and proceeds donated to Kids Under Cover. The design was ‘The Milk Bar’, by Peter Maddison, of Maddison Architects, built from milk crates and canvas. Atkinson Pontfiex won the Most Eco-Friendly and Most Innovative awards.
